Day 9: Turkey Tail Mushrooms

Today I went noticing…and I noticed these turkey tail mushrooms on a log. I also noticed a hidden friend — can you find it too? When I began digging for more information on this type of fungus (called a “trametes”) I came across an article about mycoremediation, a process that uses fungus to decontaminate the environment after a toxic disaster. The article I read was about mycoremediation after some homes had been burned in a wildfire. I know Merlin Sheldrake talks about this in his book Entangled Life. It has been on my to-read list since it came out several years ago. There’s an illustrated edition that came out in November, which sounds even more interesting.
