A few weeks ago I wrote that Red-breasted Nuthatches seem to live in an extra-dimensional life. They scurry around trees in every direction, often with their heads pointed straight down. Even though this nuthatch gets kind of lost in the photograph, I like it because it gives us a glimpse into its world. I think this male bird must be gathering moss to take back to the nest.
