Heceta Head Lighthouse

We went on a family camping trip to the coast, a kind of last hurrah before school starts for the kids in a week.

One evening, Molly and I went to Heceta Head Lighthouse. We hiked around looking for just this angle. I would have loved some clouds in the sky, of course, but really shouldn’t complain: Sunny and mid-70s at the Oregon Coast? That’s perfect late summer camping weather.

I’m also kicking myself because, if you look in the lower left-hand corner, you’ll see that the vegetation is out of focus. This scene would have been perfect for a focus stack, to get everything sharp front to back. Next time.

I have a similar photo I took a bit later. It has more motion in the water, more glow in the lighthouse light, and shaper focus…but it doesn’t have the bridge in the frame. I’ll put it below. Which do you prefer?
